What this site is about

This is a site for a project called Solution Development Project. You will be developing an artifact that helps companies like Harmony Inside AB  becoming successful players in the online market. Harmony Inside will be a test case for your solution. The site contains material relevant for this company’s problems and possible solutions. The site is dynamical and may be expanded as the needs arrive.

Project initiation

Consulting company ST Transformer AB has got a commission from  Harmony Inside AB to to look through their plans for moving business to web, find possible problems and suggest solutions for them. Harmony Inside is a new company driven by two entrepreneurs Sofia and Jeanette. They are in the process of moving their business to web.  Erik and Ilia from ST Transformer have met Sofia and Jeanette to discuss their need. The discussion has been recorded, and it is presented in this project site in several fragments. In the internal discussion, ST Transformer decided that Harmony Inside is a good example based on which generic solutions could be developed, and then adjusted for other companies with the same kind of business activities.

Project methodology

You will be using Design Science approach to developing a generic artifact and implementing it for Harmony Inside to demonstrate its usefulness.

Material to be used

All materials on which the work is to be done are or will be placed on this site. This includes (recorded) interviews, documents, links to other sites. Basic material, such as literature, videos, lectures are to be found in iLearn2

Project focus

The current focus is on giving one-to-one online consultations to the clients finding a proper treatment for them via testing appropriate approaches that suit the client individually. All other parts of the business are to be left outside the scope of the project.

Problems experienced  in giving individual consultations

Some problems are named in the interviews, others were discovered in additional meetings with the owners, which were not recorded. In particular:

  1. Problems related to face-to face meetings:.
    • lack of dietitians in the places were clients live and lack of clients where dietitians live
    • difficulties to optimally use employers when arrangingĀ  meetings. Some popular time slots are booked in advanced, but less popular may remain empty
  2. Problems related to client behavior
    • Many clients stop following the advice and quit the service. The dietitians believe that the clients not always have motivation to continue as it requires both strictly follow the instructions and recording their actions.
    • Many clients complain that they have difficulties to record exactly all their activities related to food intake and exercises, especially when it requires doing calculations to find out how much of various type of food or ingredients they have taken. Also it is not always easy to know exact ingredients of what they have eaten
    • Some clients complaint that it is not easy to assess their state of health when following the treatment. It is not always easy to say whether a strength of a symptom, or frequency of say headache decreased, remained the same, or increased.
  3. Problems related to digitization of the consulting services
    • It is not completely clear how to ensure privacy and security of client data when switching to digital consultations.
    • Not clear how to react on incidents related to security and privacy, and how to prevent their repetition.
    • It is not clear how to comply to the state regulations, e.g. GDPR

Your role in the project

Your a trainee (apprentice) at ST Transformer. Your task is developing solutions for the problems experienced or anticipated by Harmony inside using Design Science under guidance from experts (masters). Your solution should be applicable not only for Harmony Inside, but for other organizations with similar way of treating the clients.
